PROJECT INFORMATION

Women's Plaza of Honor

Description

A new plaza between Centennial Hall and the Arizona State Museum South/Haury Hall that consists of landscaped areas, a computer kiosk, lighting, paving materials, arched portals between the garden areas and enhanced entrances to the adjacent buildings.

Design Intent

The mission is to publicly and permanently celebrate women who have made significant contributions to the history of Arizona or have enriched the lives of others. The Plaza offers alumni, employees and students of the University of Arizona, members of the community, and people everywhere the opportunity to commemorate these outstanding women. The Women’s Plaza of Honor is a warm, inviting and meditative gathering place located on the University of Arizona campus in the area west of Centennial Hall. Its unique design of plants, lighting and water intermingles with archways, benches and sculptural elements to represent the stages of women’s lives.
