Our planners, architects and engineers guide university departments through the entire building process by provide comprehensive planning, design excellence, quality construction and exceptional service.

PDC staff is responsible for budgeting, scheduling, design and construction integrity and ensuring that the University receives the highest quality facilities on time and in budget. We work to support high quality education and research and to enhance the experience of all who interact with the University of Arizona.

We manage consultants and contractors and stipulate adherence to University, AZ Board of Regents and industry standards and regulations

07-8770 Sixth Street Residence Halls / Likins Hall & Arbol de la Vida

This project provides new on-campus housing for 1,088 undergraduate students. The buildings are on two sites along 6th Street; one at Tyndall Avenue (Arbol de la Vida), and one at Highland Avenue (Likins Hall).

Campus Planning and Stewardship at the University of Arizona includes long-range and pre-project planning, open space planning, historic preservation, GIS and campus mapping.

Our work involves overall guidance of campus physical development. We utilize a long-range, comprehensive perspective that considers how various planning efforts fit together – today as well as into the future.

Construction Manager at Risk

Submittal

CMR firms are invited to respond to the project-specific requirements and evaluation criteria described in the RFQ document. Generally, the submittal, referred to as a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ), will include relevant experience and other requested information about the team.

Negotiation

The University will attempt to negotiate scope, fees, terms and conditions with the highest ranked firm first. Upon successful negotiation the project-specific contract will be executed with the selected firm.

Description

A Construction Manager at Risk (CMR) is selected, via a qualifications based process, to provide fee based pre-construction phase services and Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) based construction services for specific projects. The types of projects vary from providing new buildings, to additions, renovations, and infrastructure projects. Notification and submittal requirements are advertised in a project-specific Request For Qualifications (RFQ). The invitations are advertised in the Tucson area in the Daily Territorial classified newspaper and generally in two Phoenix area classified newspapers: the East Valley Tribune and the Scottsdale Tribune; as well as being posted on this website.

Selection

The RFQ responses (SOQs) are evaluated by a selection committee uniquely assembled to evaluate the firms submitting for the specific project. The committee determines a shortlist of firms most qualified for the project. Those firms are invited to participate in an interview more specifically focused on team's project approach. The shortlisted firms are then ranked.
